The Bandola de Colombia (a.k.a Bandola Andina Colombiana) is a pear-shaped and flat-backed lute. As a descendant of the Spanish bandurria, it is played with a plectrum. The Bandola de Colombia's sixteen strings produce a unique sound for melodic lines when sustained by using a mandolin tremolo technique.
